In the library catalogue LUBcat you see if where a book is located and if it is available or for library use only. Reference books can be checked out but must be returned the same day. Step by step guide (video): Use the library catalogue effectively

Your LU Card is your Library Card

Students and staff at Lund University use their LU card as their library card. You can also borrow with an ID card at the library service points. Use your LU card pin code at the self-service machines. Forgot the PIN code for your LU card? Log in with your student account at ”My Page” in the LU card portal at Lunds University´s website.

How to create a library account and get your LU card

  1. You can get your LU card at any card office in Lund, or at CRC in Malmö. Remember to bring a valid photo ID: List of card offices at Lund University webbsite
  2. Go to the library catalogue to create a library account: Apply for a library account at lubcat.lu.se
  3. Choose home library, where your requested books will be sent, and user category.

Pick up and return books at any LU Library

You can choose any LU library for returns and as pickup location for requested books and returns. Book transports take 1–3 workdays. When your book is available for pickup you will receive an automatic e-mail. Reserved books are on hold for 7 days.

Loan periods

The loan period for textbooks is 14 days, with automatic renewal up to 5 times as long as the book is not requested by another patron. For other books in our collections the loan period is 28 days with automatic renewal, if the book is not requested by another patron. You are personally responsible for your loans and keeping track of lending periods.

Late returns and fines

Fines for delayed books are 10 SEK per book and day. Fines are paid to at the Medical faculty Library Lund or Malmö, we accept only card payments by Visa, MasterCard, or Maestro.

After two reminder e-mails we will send an invoice for SEK 600 regardless of the purchase price. If you return the book after an invoice is sent you only pay the overdue fine. If a book is ruined you will be charged for a replacement copy.

Find research journals and databases in LUBsearch

LUBsearch is the Lund University portal for accessing the library collection of e-journals, e-books and databases. LUBsearch is freely searchable, but the electronic journals, articles or e-books can only be read and downloaded on the university network. Off-campus access is only available for students and employees at Lund University with student or Lucat ID.
