Find, borrow and request books

The Faculty of Medicine Library has essential textbooks and in-depth literature in medicine and health sciences. You can search for relevant books using the library's online catalogue, Finn. You can easily see which library has the book, reserve books and renew your loans.

Library loans at Lund University

The Lund University Search Tool, Finn, will tell you where the book is and if you can borrow it or only use it in the library.  When you log in, you can also request material, save searches, manage your loans and more.

Frequently asked questions: loans and returns

Students and staff at Lund University use their LU card as their library card. You can also borrow with an ID card at the library service desk. 

Use your LU card pin code at the self-service machines. 

Log in with your student account at ”My Page” in the LU card portal at Lunds University´s website.

You can order individual copies of articles or borrow books that are not available at our library or any other library at Lund University.

  2. You collect and pay for interlibrary loans or article copies at one of the Faculty of Medicine's libraries.

Cost

Books from libraries in the Nordic countries: no charge.
Books from libraries outside the Nordic countries: SEK 150 per book.
Article copies: SEK 80 per article

Fines for overdue books are 10 SEK per book per day. These fines are paid to your faculty library in Lund or Malmö. We only accept card payments using Visa, MasterCard or Maestro. 

You are liable for compensation for books that are not returned

After two reminders, we will send an invoice, and you, as the borrower, will be liable to pay a flat fee of SEK 600 per book, regardless of the purchase price. However, if you return the book before the due date, we will cancel the invoice.

You are also liable for compensation if a book you have borrowed has been damaged to such an extent that it must be discarded. Damaged or lost books must be replaced either by submitting an identical copy of the book in question to the library information desk staff, or by paying the standard fee of SEK 600.

The late fee for course books is SEK 10 per book per day. No fees are added on days when the library is closed or at weekends.

If you owe SEK 100 or more in unpaid fees, you will automatically be blocked from borrowing from any Lund University library.

Books that have not been returned despite reminders

You will receive an invoice for these books, and you, as the borrower, will be liable to pay a flat fee of SEK 600 per book, regardless of the purchase price. However, if you return the book before the due date, we will cancel the invoice.

Reserved books are on hold for 7 days. You can choose any LU library for returns and as pickup location for requested books and returns. 

Book transports take 1–3 workdays. When your book is available for pickup you will receive an automatic e-mail.
